Police Nab Soldier For Allegedly Stabbing Man To Death In Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, on Thursday, arrested one Tijani Uzairu in connection to the murder of a mechanic identified as Chukwu Chukwudi at the Kugbo mechanic village Abuja.

Earlier in the day, a riot broke out at the mechanic village located along the Keffi-Abuja road, following the gruesome murder of the victim by a soldier.

The victim was allegedly stabbed to death during an argument, after which the suspect and his accomplices fled the scene.

The FCT Police Command in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, later in the day, said Uzairu and four other suspects who are currently at large, brought in a vehicle for repairs before the incident happened.

Adeh said the deceased was stabbed on the neck with a dagger by one of the suspects.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, police operatives from Karu Division mobilized to the scene where one Tijani Uzairu who accompanied the other suspects was arrested and the victim was rushed to the hospital where the doctor on duty confirmed him dead.

“The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh has ordered that a discreet investigation be conducted into the matter, as normalcy has since been restored.

“He also advises members of the public to shun all acts of violence, noting that the consequences are mostly dire and regrettable,” the statement read
