Three Arrested For Cattle Rustling In Jigawa

Three people have been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command on suspicion of cattle rustling.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the arrest in a statement released to DAILY POST on Tuesday.

According to him, “On 13/08/2024 at about 2005hrs, a distress call was received that, hoodlums numbering about three (3) with their operational motor vehicle Golf 3 Waggon, green in color with registration number BWR 198 AM, stole two (2) cows from Gubusun village in Kirika Samma LGA”

“Upon receiving the report, a team of Police Officers from Kirika Samma Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, swiftly mounted a stop and searched along Kirika Samma-Kano road”

“The team successfully intercepted the vehicle alongside the said cows and the following occupants; (1) Yura Alhaji Gwanto ‘m’ age 50yrs of Gubusun, (2) Mohammed Saje ‘m’ age 35yrs of Zagari Fulani settlement, (3) Haladu Yusuf Chakas (driver) ‘m’ age 30yrs of Marma village Kirika Samma LGA”

“The vehicle, cows and the suspects were immediately brought to the division for investigation.”

He stated that the suspects confessed to stealing the cows from the village.

The suspects were sent to court to face the charges.
