Pillars 2-0 Sharks
Glo Premier League champions Kano Pillars bounced back from their recent blip of form with victory over Sharks FC in a Match Day 8 fixture on Sunday.
Second half goals from Ezekiel Mbah and Adamu Hassan gave Sai Masu Gida just their fourth win of the season.
Both sides went into the interval without a goal, before Mbah scored from Azeez Shobowale’s assist four minutes after the interval.
Ekpai had the ball inside the net on 47 minutes but his effort was chalked off for a foul on Sharks goalkeeper.
Hassan eventually doubled scores off another Shobowale assist as Pillars moved up to 11th position with 12 points from eight games.
Sunshine Stars 2-0 Shooting Stars
Sunshine Stars returned to the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table following their impressive home win over Shooting Stars.
Goalkeepers Abiodun Akande and Ikechukwu Ezenwa of 3SC and Sunshine respectively, pulled off some smart saves which left the South West derby evenly poised at the break.
Tunde Adeniji opened scoring in the 60th minute and Dele Olorundare doubled the Akure Gunners’ lead seven minutes later from Seun Olulayo’s assist.
Shooting Stars created a flurry of chances but could not put a finishing touch to some of their fine forward play.
Sunshine now have 16 points from eight games, a point ahead of Giwa FC after they played out a goalless draw at Enyimba International FC.
3SC have now suffered four defeats in seven matches and occupy seventeenth position in the table.
