Famous Influential Congolese singer, Papa Wemba has just been reported dead while performing on a stage in Abidjan – Ivory Coast.
According to a report by BBC, the 66-years old music star collapsed on stage while performing at a concert and was eventually pronounced dead.
It was also reported that Papa Wemba, who was born Jules Shungu Webadio, slumped on the floor as dancers continue to perform, unaware of what is happening.
His manager was also reported to have confirmed his death to a French broadcaster.
The veteran singer became prominent on the African music scene since 1969, with his soukous rock music.
Papa Wemba won the world following with his soukous rock music and remained one of Africa’s most popular musicians until his death.
He was rumored dead in 2013 but dispelled the news with a Tweet saying Rest assured dear fans I am still here with you.
