Yahoo Sacks CEO

Internet giant Yahoo has sacked its Chief Executive Officer Carol Bartz after two and half years on the job. The sack was first announced by Ms.Bartz in an email she sent to her staff which read: “I am very sad to tell you that I’ve just been fired over the phone by Yahoo’s chairman of the board,” Ms Bartz said in the email to staff. “It has been my pleasure to work with all of you and I wish you only the best going forward.”

Yahoo later issued a press release confirming her sack. Analysts and speculators say the sack is coming as a result of Yahoo’s inability to raise its market share due to the stiff competition it faces from rivals such as Google and Facebook. Analysts say the company has shown lack of focus and direction, having tried its hands in media, content and advertisement which according to the analysts are not as lucrative as search engine and social networking.
