Dorowa is a popular drinking joint in Jalingo where the local brew, “Burkutu” and “Ogogoro” as well as other assorted alcoholic drinks are sold. Jalingo is the capital of Taraba state, which has been occasionally hit by violence blamed on Boko Haram. And bars have sometimes been targeted by the Islamist extremists, though crime and local disputes have also led to such incidents.

Also, Taraba’s State was in the news on Thursday when the parliament impeached the deputy governor over allegations of corruption.
