Three people on Friday morning burned to death in a road accident in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Reports say the victims were riding in a taxi when a fuel tanker with a faulty brake rammed their vehicle at a point close to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) depot at Oke Oyi. The tanker spilled its content on impact, which then set fire to the car.
According to the state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oladayo Ademoluti, the men of the corps could not render any help while the victims burned.
He said their remains had been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin.
The FRSC chief also added that 16 people died in an auto crash involving a trailer loaded with bags of beans and an 18-seater commuter bus at Osin river community, a suburb of Ilorin, on Wednesday.
A 10-year-old boy was said to have survived the crash miraculously as he was removed from under the wreckage of the vehicles a few hours after the accident.
