Two of the gunmen were however killed by security men who responded to a distress call from the village.

This came as the Commander of the Special Task Force, STF, in Jos, Major-General Henry Ayoola decried cases of isolated killings in Plateau State despite all efforts by security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure lasting peace is returned to the state.

The latest attack came barely two days after a similar one on Chacha village in Jos South Local Government Area during which four members of a family were gunned down.

Reports say the gunmen stormed the house at about midnight on Wednesday, killing the village head, his wife and their young relation.

Anti-riot policemen who responded to the distress call from the village were said to have caught up with the assailants, gunning down two of them in the process.

Confirming the incident, Police spokesman, Emmanuel Abuh said two of the attackers were killed by “some gallant policemen”, adding that the bodies of those killed had been deposited at the Air Force Military Hospital, Jos.

Ayoola said we can overcome the challenge if every Nigerian resident in the state showed commitment to love, peace and true forgiveness.
