The contract bazaar of the present administration shocked members of the Senate Committee on FCT to the bones when they found out that the National Cultural Centre and Millenium Tower project, was awarded to a construction company at a whopping sum of N69.3 billion. The Committee made this discovery during an oversight visit to the site of the project at the Central District Area, Abuja.
FCDA executive secretary, Engr Adamu Ismail, who conducted the Senators around the site told them that the project was awarded to Messr Salini Nigeria Ltd on November 17, 2005; while work commenced on January 12, 2007.
Ismail, who noted that the project was expected to be completed by October 14, 2014, said it occupies four hectares of land.
He added that N2 billion was proposed for the project in the national budget for the 2013 fiscal year.
The document submitted to the committee put the initial cost of the project at N62.1 billion; augmented cost, N69.3 billion; variation, N16.2 billion and advance mobilisation, N13.28 billion.
The more you Nigerian news the more you come to realize that the Government don’t have the interest of the common people at heart. But God will us through. That is when the bush meat will hunt the hunter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YEAH Dafeh, Ur quite right with your Comment but what can the Common people do ???. Am particularly disappointed with this Current administration under the leadership of Jonathan, because I was very happy thinking a leader from Delta state would proof and give good leadership & examples to those behind the Nation’s progress but, always turning blind eyes, ears to issues hence they are all birds of same feathers. what happened in Ghana, made Ghana to be better. However, all our past leaders are behind various bad things going on in that Country [Nigeria].
