Nigeria can neither be made a Christian nor a Muslim country – Ayo Oritsejafor

ayo oritsejaforThe president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has reiterated that Nigeria is not a religious state.

Oritsejafor stated this in a meeting with the joint delegation of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) and the National Council of Muslim Youths Organisations (NACOMYO), who paid him a visit at the International Gospel Centre, Warri, Delta State, on Monday.

He therefore pointed out that those who have been making frantic attempts to see Nigeria turned into a Christian or Islamic state are on a fruitless journey. Earlier in his address, national president of NACOMYO, Alhaji Kamal’ddin Akintunde, had underscored the significance of religion in building an egalitarian society and stabilising the polity, adding that the visit was to delineate their affection, respect and appreciation of the man of God, as well as other religious leaders who have been at the forefront of ensuring national cohesion.

According to Pastor Oritsejafor, it is a waste of effort to imagine the country with its vast human and natural resources could be cocooned into a religious state. “Nigeria cannot be made a Christian country and it cannot be made a Muslim country, it is impossible,” he maintained.
