President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered security agencies to take all necessary action to locate and rescue foreign construction workers abducted from their camp by gunmen on Sunday in Bauchi State.
The directive is contained in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati.
According to the statement, the president commiserated with the family of the guard reportedly killed in the attack.
Jonathan assured the relatives of the kidnapped foreign workers as well as the governments of their countries that the security agencies were doing everything possible to find them.
The president, who said that the government would ensure the safe release of all those abducted, condemned the kidnapping of the workers and reaffirmed the government’s total commitment to stamping out all forms of terrorism and criminal abduction in the country.
Jonathan also urged Nigerians and foreigners in the country to continue to go about their normal business, adding that security agencies were working to curb threats to security in all parts of Nigeria. (NAN)
