Latest news emerging from South Africa has it that the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg on has sentenced the leader of the Movement of the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, Henry Okah, to 24 years in prison.
It will be recalled that on 21 January, Okah was found guilty on 13 counts of terrorism, including engaging in terrorist activities, conspiracy to engage in terrorist activities, and delivering, placing, and detonating an explosive device.
The sentence, which was then adjourned, has now been delivered and Okah is to spend the next 24 years of his life in prison. More later.
