If not for providence, two would-be suicide bombers could have caused havoc when a bomb they planned to detonate at a checkpoint manned by soldiers of the Joint Military Task Force,JTF, at the Hotoro axis of Kano, northwest Nigeria, was foiled.
The suspected terrorists; disguised as a water vendor and a motorcyclist, accidentally blew themselves up on Saturday morning and died in the process.
The Kano state Commissioner of Police, Musa Daura, who confirmed the incident, said: “At about 7:30 this morning (Saturday), a terrorist disguised like a water vendor concealed explosives inside a truck with empty jerry cans. The explosive harmed and killed them when his accomplice who disguised as a motorcyclist tried to detonate the bomb, targeting a JTF checkpoint.”
Daura added that the terrorists suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect targeted a millitary checkpoint, “but they did not succeed.”
However, four of their accomplices who were arrested by security operatives have confessed to been masterminds of the botched attack.
