A mother identified as Mrs Zuwaira Yakubu, and her five children were burnt to death in the early hours of Tuesday in Danbaba village, near Birnin Yero in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
When Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna State paid a condolence visit to the bereaved family, father of the family, Imam Yakubu, was too distraught to speak.
An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, said the fire occurred when Zuwaira carried a kerosene lantern close to a generator, adding that the fire razed the house completely.
While commiserating with the bereaved family, the governor directed that the burnt house be rebuilt. He also ordered that a well be provided for the family.
Speaking to newsmen, Yero said the visit was to commiserate with the family and the people of the village on the “tragic” loss.
“I came here to commiserate and condole the man who lost his wife and five children to the fire accident on Tuesday.
“Kaduna State Government will rebuild the house that was burnt; government will also dig a well for the family.”
