Fayemi Declares Seven Day Mourning Period For Late Deputy Governor

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has declared a seven day mourning period in memory of his late deputy, Mrs Funmi Olayinka.

In a broadcast to the people of the state, on Sunday evening, Fayemi said: “in reflection of the mood of our state in this trying moment, a period of seven-day mourning shall commence from this moment, during which all flags in the state will fly at half-mast.”

He said during the period, all state official ceremonies would be suspended, adding that “condolence registers have been opened in the governor’s and deputy governor’s offices, government house,  state House of Assembly, her residence and the liaison offices in Lagos and Abuja.”
