The Golden Eaglets’ vision of qualifying for the 2013 Under- 17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, placed in doubt by a loss to Cote d’Ivoire,  has been granted a reprieve.

Following their dismal performance against the Young Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire on Matchday 2, the outcome of the Ghana-Congo match has brought cheers to the Eaglets’ camp. Congo drew 1- 1 with Ghana in Marrakech to share the spoils. The result means the Golden Eaglets need a draw on Saturday against Congo to qualify for the U17 World Cup.
Ghana remains at the bottom of Group B with a solitary point from two matches and must beat Ivory Coast in the final group match of Saturday and hope Nigeria beat Congo to qualify to the semi- final and also book a slot at the 2013 U17 World Cup.
Ghana came from behind to force a draw out of the Congolese to keep hopes alive. They were stunned three minutes into the game when goalkeeper Mohammed Ali spilled Ngatsongo Obassi’s free- kick for striker Kader Bidimbou to tap in from close range.

The Ghanaians never stopped mounting pressure with the aim of leveling up. In the 37th minute Yaw Yeboah connected skipper Thomas Agyepong’s cross into the net.
Rainfall made playing a bit difficult. The match ended one-all.
