The Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev Matthew Hassan Kukah, has called on the government to focus on the welfare of the people to deepen democracy in the country.
Rev made this known at a symposium in Benin, the Edo state capital with the theme, “Deepening Democracy and Enhancing Public Welfare” organized to mark the 60th birthday anniversary of the Governor of Edo stste, Adams Oshiomhole. He said that democracy should revolve around Abraham Maslow’s principle of needs and incentives which sought to satisfy the needs of the citizens as they arise and in terms of priority.
He then urged Nigerians to live as one, since the nation belongs to everyone: “If we wish for others what we wish ourselves, this country will be a better place,” he said.
