World No. 5 and 11- time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal has confirmed he will be playing Swiss Indoors along with his best rival World No. 2 Roger Federer. The indoor championship which will be coming up on 21st October will present the Swiss fans the opportunity to watch home- made talent Federer take on his long time rival Nadal at the Basel Open.
Basel Open will have Federer and Nadal play combined for the first time in nine years. Federer will lead the championship along with Nadal and defending champion Juan Martin Del Potro, in what will be a tough challenge for the world No. 2, playing in front of a home crowd against the best players on the tour.
Nadal played his last tournament in Basel nine years ago, losing his opening round match to Rainer Schuettler of Germany. The Spaniard will be looking forward to play better in the Basel Open, enough to have him go on and clinch his first title of the Swiss indoors.
The last time Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer played combined was in the 2004 edition of the championship, where the Spaniard made an early exit out of the tournament losing to compatriot Feliciano Lopez.
