Pregnancy Complications Kill 60,000 Nigerian Women Annually – NPHCDA

At least 60,000 Nigerian women die annually from complications in pregnancy, Executive Secretary of National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, Dr. Ado Mohammed, has said.

Mohammed said this when receiving an award of excellence conferred on him by the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, MHWUN, for his agency’s commitment to efficient healthcare service delivery in Nigeria.

Speaking through the Assistant Public Relations Officer of NPHCDA, Mr. Abubakar Musa, Mohammed said: “The agency solicits for more support and cooperation of well meaning Nigerians in collaborating with NPHCDA towards providing better health care service delivery to all Nigerians, especially at the grassroots level.”

To achieve this, he said “all hands must be on deck towards ensuring that Nigeria attains the MDG’s goal 4 & 5; reduction in maternal and child mortality, before 2015.”
