Gov. Rabi’u Kwankwaso of Kano State has denied a report that he would declare his presidential ambition at the right time.
A statement by Malam Halilu Dantiye, the Governor’s Director of Press and Public Relations, issued in Kano on Friday, described the story as ”a misrepresentation of fact”.
It stated that the governor had never made any statement that suggested that he would contest the presidency of Nigeria in 2015.
The statement said that the report carried on Wednesday, May 1, was a misrepresentation.
”The statement is a misrepresentation of fact as the governor never made any statement that suggests that he intends to contest the presidency of this country come 2015.
”We, therefore, wish to state unequivocally that Gov. Rabi’u Kwankwaso, currently serving his second and final term as governor of Kano State, has not declared interest to vie for the presidency of this country or for any elective position,” the statement said.
It said Kwankwaso was currently occupied with how to ensure peace, stability and unity among Nigerians in addition to justifying the mandate given to him by the people of Kano State.
It said ”What Gov. Kwankwaso said was that at the moment he is focusing on critical issues of development and security in Kano State and will make his position on his political future known in due course.
”He stressed that two years into his tenure in office is too early to start talking about 2015.” (NAN)
Don’t hide ur intention to presidential election we dey support u sir.
I hate the words “jonathan’s seat”. For goodness sake, that should better “presidential seat”. Jonathan only met the seat and he will definetly leave it. Even if he still impose himself come 2015, he will leave it by 2019. Thats the simple truth
