Min. Of State For Defence Commiserates With Ihejirika, Abati

olusola-obadaThe Minister of State for Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada, has sympathised with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika and the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, on the death of their father and mother respectively.

In a statement signed yesterday by her media assistant, Mr. Femi Adefila, Obada urged the entire Ihijerika and Abati families to rejoice because their people lived a fulfilled and productive life before their death at advanced age.

She said with the exemplary characters of the COAS as an officer and a gentleman, it is not difficult to fathom the kind of father late Ihijerika was.

“What could be more fitting for one to not only live to an advanced age but to see one’s children achieve great things while one is alive. That aptly describes the life of Pa Ihijerika because he left a positive and lasting impression in whoever came his way and good and accomplished children as evidence of his worthy life. He will forever be remembered for nurturing his children and for making sure that they achieve great things with their lives,” the minister remarked.

Information Nigeria reports that Chief Ezekiel Okoronkwo Ihijerika, died last Wednesday at the age of 92, while Abati’s mother, Madam Maria Taiwo Abati, died last Thursday at the age of 81.
