French League One newcomers Monaco has confirmed the signing of Porto’s midfield duo Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez for a combined fee of £60 million.
According to Porto’s official website, Monaco have paid £38.5 and £21.5 million for 26- year- old Portuguese Moutinho and 21- year- old Colombian Rodriguez, respectively.
The two players are expected to be presented to the media at the club’s return for pre- season training.
Moutinho has 55 caps for Portugal. He joined Portuguese League champions Porto from Sporting Lisbon in July 2010.
Rodriguez has 12 international caps and won the Portuguese Golden Ball in 2012, an annual award given by newspaper A Bola to the player who is adjudged to have been the best of the year in the Primera Liga.
Monaco was bought last year by Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev, and were promoted to Ligue Un this season. Former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri is currently in charge of the club.
