Dropped Nigeria striker Ikechukwu Uche scored his 10th goal in Spain on Sunday as his club Villarreal fell 3-2 at home to Elche.
Uche scored in the 81st minute to bring the game to 2-2, before the visiting team scored the winner in the closing minutes.
Villarreal are now fourth on the table with 62 points from 37 matches and in the position to feature in the promotion play-offs.
In Turkey, former Mighty Jets of Jos striker Chibuzor Nwogbo was a hero for Adanaspor as he helped them to a 2-0 win away at Karsiyaka.
Nwogbo opened scoring in the 33rd minute.
Adanaspor are pushing for a spot in the play-offs and now eighth on the table with 49 points, just a point behind the sixth-placed team, the last slot for the play-offs.
The former University of Pretoria FC of South Africa striker has now scored three goals in the league.
