How much of a celebration quest could be enough for your first trophy in as many years? As Robin van Persie, who had to wait seven trophyless seasons at Arsenal before lifting his first ever Premier League trophy with Manchester United will have it. Too much is never enough.
So the Dutchman is making sure he savour every moment of this season’s league success. Van Persie, 29, even took the Premier League trophy to a youth tournament he organised in his homeland.
The United striker also did send one of his biggest detractors Piers Morgan, who is a CNN host, and Arsenal fan a package on twitter. Morgan has waged a running battle with the United striker all season.
The package contained a double- sided picture of Van Persie kissing the Premier League trophy with one message reading: “Piersy my man, thanks for all the support! You made this day even more special! All the best, Van Pursestrings.”
‘Van Pursestring?’ Morgan had given Van Persie the nickname to imply that the former Arsenal captain joined Manchester United for money.
Nevertheless, Morgan took the message in good humour, writing on his Twitter page he said: “After all the grief I’ve given Van Pursestrings, he’s allowed a whack back. I’ll just have to take it on the chins.”
