Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team D’Tigers have departed for China for the Stankovich Cup Tournament which runs from June 27th till 10th July. The tournament will serve as part of the build up for the African Championship (Afrobasket) scheduled to hold in Cote d’Ivoire in August.
The home-based players and coaching staff left Lagos yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon aboard Qatar Airlines via Doha, while their US-based colleagues departed the Los Angeles International Airport aboard Air China flight via Beijing.
D’Tigers will play Germany on June 27 before lining up against Argentina, Puerto Rico, China and Australia in the round-robin contest of the first leg which ends in Lanzhou on July 1.
The second leg will hold in the southern commercial city of Guangzhou from July 3-10.
The team will then proceed on recess to reconvene for the next phase of preparation in USA during the third week of July.
