The police in Enugu has said that it has arrested a notorious armed robbery suspect and car snatcher in the state following information it received from members of the public.
Mr Ebere Amaraizu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, who announced the arrest on Tuesday in Enugu, said the arrest of other members of the gang was made possible following the arrest of their king-pin.
Amaraizu said the gang leader was arrested on June 2 following public concern over his alleged criminal activities with his gang in Emene and its environs.
The police also said it had arrested a self-confessed cultist who had been identified by some of his victims for terrorising people in Emene.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Abubakar Mohammed, has commended the efforts of his men and members of the public for their efforts at combating crime and criminality in the state.
Mohammed urged them to put in more efforts to sanitise the state, adding that aggressive patrols by his officers and men had started to yield positive results.
He called on stakeholders in security business to rally round the police and provide timely and useful information about crime and criminality in their domains.(NAN)
