Many want to know the cause of Thompson Oliha death since the news broke out last month, but recent reports have revealed that the family is objecting to plans of conducting an autopsy on his corpse.
Oliha was pronounced dead by the Chief Medical Director of Yusjib Industrial Medicare, Offa Garage, Ilorin, Doctor Yusuf Abdulkareem, after he allegedly slumped in his toilet and was rushed to the hospital.
A Daily Trust investigation has gathered that plans to conduct an autopsy on his corpse were rebuffed by the family.
Before his demise, Oliha worked with the Kwara State Football Academy as one of the pioneer coaches. One of his associates, Coach Paul Odey confirmed the family’s stance on the supposed autopsy.
“So we don’t want to get into any confrontation. We have left that plan,” Odey disclosed to Daily Trust.
“Under normal circumstances, everybody has been asking what the cause of his death is? The only place such a question can be answered is through autopsy. It is normal scientifically that when a figure like that, a public figure, there must be an autopsy to ascertain the reason for his death.”
Oliha’s corpse is currently in University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) mortuary and would leave the state on July 19 to be interred on July 29 according to Odey.
