Nigerian striker, Derick ‘Chuka’ Ogbu has signed for Romanian club CFR Cluj from Belgian Jupiler League club, OH Leuven.
Ogbu, 23, who scored eight league goals for Leuven last season, is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in European football.
CFR Cluj released a statement on its official website on Tuesday that: “The Nigerian striker, Derick Ogbu Chuka, had joined our team, CFR Cluj! Welcome to our club and we wish you good luck in this new season.”
Ogbu will join another Nigerian, Obiora Nwankwo, who has welcomed his compatriot saying:
“To be honest, I haven’t been following his progress in Belgium but the scouts at Cluj are among the best in the world. If they identify a player, then you can be sure the player is special.
“I am sure he (Ogbu) will have a great time here and I will do my best to make him feel at home,” Obiora told supersport.com.
Ogbu joined OH Leuven from Doha-based club, Umm Salal in 2010 and spent three seasons in Belgium.
