Serena Williams’s conqueror Sabine Lisicki has now become one of the favourites for the 2013 Wimbledon women’s single. The 23rd seed was back to action in Court one on Tuesday against Estonian Kaia Kanepi in the quarter final.

Germany’s Lisiscki lived up to her new status as she clinically demolished Kanepi 6-3, 6-3 to proceed into her second Wimbledon semi-final.

Lisicki broke Kanepi’s serve in the opening game of the match and wrapped up the first set in 33 minutes.

Kanepi, who knocked out British number one Laura Robson in yesterday’s fourth-round clash, took advantage of three Lisicki’s double faults to break serve for a 2-1 lead in the second set but the German reeled off four games in a row before sealing the win.

Lisicki will play fourth seed Agniesczka Radwanska or sixth seed Li Na in the semi-final.
