Gov. Obi Inciting Igbo Hatred Toward Yoruba – APC

PETER-OBIAnambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, has been accused by the All Progressives Congress (APC) of “sensationalizing” the recent repatriation of 14 indigenes of the state by the Lagos state government, describing his action as a threat to the country’s unity.

APC accused Gov. Obi of triggering “a vicious Lagos state/Yoruba bashing” so as to gain upper hand for his party as the November 16 governorship election draws near.

In a statement yesterday issued by its interim National Publicity Secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed, APC said the governor should have contacted his Lagos state counterpart, Gov. Babatunde Fashola, as he has done on other less weighty issues in the past.

“We are not saying Gov. Obi has no right to play politics, but he must fight clean and avoid any action that could hurt not just the enduring harmony between the Igbo and the Yoruba, but also the unity of the country.

“Resorting to primordial sentiments anytime election is approaching is Gov. Obi’s modus operandi. He did it just before the 2009 election, when he labeled the ACN under which Dr. Chris Ngige contested as a Yoruba party, and he is going down the same path now. This is all about the November 2013 election. If Gov. Obi is sure of his performance, he should allow that to speak for him and stop whipping up tribal sentiments,” said the statement.

The party also decried the attitudes of some commentators, analysts, and some NGOs who, it said tagged the home return for proper integration of the Anambra indigenes as “deportation” instead of finding the truth from the Lagos state government.”

  1. Whoever this Alhaji Lai Mohammed is must be one of the mischievous elements that is polluting the civic landscape of our dear nation, and that is very bad for the APC to be harbouring him.

APC as a party for CHANGE in nigeria should be rid of such PDP disowned individuals.

Tell me, how can someone in his right mind tag ‘forceful deportation of rightful citizens’ as ‘home return for proper integration of the Anambra indigenes’.

  2. It is a shame to hear these comments from this guy. Never will I believe any of his future comments about the PDP.

Please subtract my one vote that I had thought should go to APC in 2015. What a shame!
