Jonathan Paying More Attention To PDP Crisis Than ASUU Strike – NANS

goodluck_jonathan_dozeThe National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has noted that if President Goodluck Jonathan gave the same level of attention he has been giving to the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU would have been called off since.

The students, who slammed Mr. Jonathan’s “uncaring attitude towards the future of Nigerian Students”, expressed their dismay with the way he is handling the ASUU Strike and called on him to personally wade into the matter instead of leaving it in the hands of the Gov. Gabriel Suswam-led Needs assessment committee.

In a statement issued by its National Financial Secretary, Comrade Timileyin Ayenuro, NANS said it is disheartening that Nigerian Students in public varsities have been at home for over two months without the federal government finding a lasting solution to the strike.

The statement read in part: “It is sad that ASUU has been on strike for over two months now without government acceding to their demands

“The committee set up by Mr. President to look into the matter has failed woefully, hence the need for the President to personally take over from the committee.

“President Goodluck has been having series of meetings towards resolving PDP crises but he has no time to attend to ASUU’s strike.

“If President Goodluck Jonathan gives maximum attention to ASUU strike as he is presently doing with PDP crisis, ASUU would have called off the strike by now.”
