Nigerian Basketball player Ike Diogu, has joined National Basketball Association (NBA) side New York Knicks.
Diogu, 30, has a double citizenship as he holds a Nigerian and American passport.
Diogu, who is in his ninth season in professional basketball, has made a host of achievements which includes winning the: Afrobasket.com All African Player of the Year award and the NABC All-NCAA District 15 1st Team award back in 2005.
He has played previously for the New Orleans Pelicans, LA Clippers, San Antonio Spurs, Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers, all in the NBA.
The D’Tigers forward played in the summer at Ponce in the Puerto Rican BSN League, where he was the third best scorer with impressive 19.0ppg and recorded 8.6rpg and 1.5apg, in 41 games. He helped the Puerto Rican club win the regular season and make it the final.
After the impressive performance, he was awarded Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican Centre of the Year, selected to first team and selected to All-Imports Team.
In 2005 Diogu was drafted by Golden State Warriors in first round (9th overall)
He represented Nigeria at the Afrobasket Championships in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) this year, wher in 7 games; he scored 1(21.9ppg), Reb(10.3rpg),FGP: 65.0%, 3PT: 50.0%, FT-3(84.6%).
