The Chief Joel Madaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has appealed to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Muhammad to reopen the Adamawa State governor’s lodge.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, had over a week ago sealed the Adamawa governor’s lodge in the Maitama District which had served as the temporary secretariat of the Abubakar Kawu Baraje-led PDP for allegedly violating the principles of the Abuja Master Plan.

Speaking at a press briefing in Yola, the Adamawa State capital yesterday, Madaki aligned with the FCTA’s position as he lampooned Governor Murtala Nyako for allegedly converting the governor’s lodge to unauthorized use by an unregistered political party as against the wish of people of the state.

“The highest sense of irresponsibility is for a governor to turn a governor’s lodge built by, for and on behalf of the people of a state to a political party office without seeking the consent of the people who elected him or their elected representatives, more so a political organization on whose platform he was not elected into office”, he said.

Dismissing the defense put up by Nyako, who is a member of the New PDP that the sealing off of the lodge was a calculated political victimization, Mr. Madaki challenged Gov. Nyako to explain why he allowed the sealing off of Adamawa State House of Assembly by hoodlums for a period of two months.

“Governor Nyako has soon forgotten that it was under his watchful eyes and supervision that the Adamawa State House of Assembly was sealed off by hoodlums for almost two months. Why has it become a matter of concern when a constituted authority has enforced a law which has been violated by him,” he pointed out.

Pleading with the FCT minister to consider the feelings of Adamawa people, who felt embarrassed by the sealing of the lodge, the PDP factional chairman stressed the need to resume official government business in the lodge for the benefit of the people.

“We wish to plead with the Federal Capital Teritory Administration to consider the interest of the generality of Adamawa State people by unsealing our governor’s lodge so that official government activities can be conducted there not minding the 48 hours threat issued by the unrecognized New PDP. The entire Adamawa people should not be made to suffer the indiscretion of a single individual,” he stated.
