For Nigeria international, Ogenyi Onazi, catching a thief who had threatened to do away with one’s belongings has more to it than only trending the headlines.
Last week, Onazi handed over a mugger to the police in Rome, but has spoken out to clarify his actions, stressing he was only being a good citizen and never thought of the impact on the media.
“A few days ago, news broke about how ‘Onazi Caught a Mugger’ in the media across the world,” the Lazio midfielder tweeted.
“I wish to implore you all not to overplay my action as I am only a regular young man like you out there.
“I did what I needed to do in the heat of the moment without any consideration for the headlines.
“As a matter of fact I consider this as a wake-up call yo us all about the need to be better citizens and our responsibilities… to stand up for our neighbour and society at all times.
“Finally I implore you to go out there and make our society a better place for us.”
