At a time when the activities of the Boko Haram sect are causing ill feelings of the society, particularly women, widows from different parts of the country came together to pray for Nigerian security to mark the International World Widow’s Day.
The event tagged ‘Widows Pray for Nigeria’ was organised by Rock of Ages Empowerment Foundation (RAEF), a non-governmental organization, catering for the need of widows.
RAEF Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Newman Ezeigbo, on behalf of more than 1500 widows, told the newsmen that anytime widows pray and cry out heaven opens, so God will definitely interfere in the affairs of Nigeria for peace.
“We are praying that one day Nigeria will get better and those who think Nigeria will disintegrate will be disappointed. We also pray that this country will give women chance, for instance, Liberian president today is a widow we hope that one day a woman will emerge as Nigerian President.
“My message to other widows that are not here today is that they should not lose hope, God is there for them, it may not be rosy now but I believe one thing, God who made their husbands to go knows they can take care of the family.
“A widow can carry on the vision of the family, because one of the richest women today in the world is a widow and if she could get to the level she is today, others can as well do,” the RAEF CEO said.
A member of RAEF, Mrs. Roselyn Alagh, who is also a widow, advised other widows to develop their God given talent, since RAEF is a source of strength to widows.
Another member of RAEF, Mrs. Marieta Sulemai-Takuma, said widows should love, monitor and sacrifice for their children and above all hold on to God.
