Mimiko To Christian Pilgrims: “Pray For Peace”

In the course of an orientation lecture for 2013 Christian pilgrims on Thursday in Akure governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, represented by Mr Kola Ademujimi, the Chief of Staff at the Government House, has urged intending Christian pilgrims from the state to pray for the peace, progress and development of the country.

“Please remember that you are going there for spiritual empowerment and not for jamboree or an avenue for tourism or any business transaction.Therefore, pray for the peace, progress and development of Nigeria so that God should put an end to the blood-bath in Ondo State and in the country at large,’’ Ademujimi said.

He also warned the pilgrims against absconding, saying this would worsen the image of Ondo State.

Responding, Mr Lawrence Akinlolu, the Chairman, Ondo State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, thanked the governor for sponsoring pilgrimages annually and promised that pilgrims would be good ambassadors of the state.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at least 254 intending pilgrims from the state would participate in the pilgrimage
