Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, one of the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), heavily criticized the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the country’s economy has been “crawling” under PDP while its members “wash their feet in champagne” and “live to maintain power” instead of solving problems of the Nigerians.
Tinubu, former Lagos State governor, stated this October 23 while delivering the 70th anniversary business lecture for the Island Club, Lagos. He was represented by the governor of Oyo State, Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
ACP leader stressed that Nigeria’s over-dependence on oil revenue and near total neglect of agriculture had placed the country on a precarious level of growth and development. He said it was a hight time for Nigeria to start a new path in the critical areas of its politics, economy, education and infrastructural development, because otherwise it would face rising levels of poverty and political discontent.
He added that currently Nigeria is “crawling” behind all the progressive world, which mainly caused by the lack of strong political leadership:
“We live in a fast-paced world but Nigeria is only crawling. In front of us, progressive development moves quicker than us. With each day, the distance between development and us increases. … The most troubling aspect of the current state of the union is that we lack inspirational national leadership.”
Tinubu wend on saying that years of PDP in power made people see the government as a “burden” not able to help the Nigerians:
“The people see government more as a burden than benefit, more as overlord more than a servant. The ruling party caused this. Most of its politicians are not interested in progress; they live to maintain power. Thus, they invest their efforts in gaining and keeping influence.”
“I shudder to think of the state of the nation in years to come if we continue in this limp fashion,” the politician added.
Why can’t this old fool named Tinubu say better things about Nigeria other than mentioning PDP? Is PDP the problems facing the country? You better learn how to be a good Politician now before laying false blames to others because you are not in their positions. Please give us the country an example of an APC state living up to their states demands and eradicating poverty or name a few of them so that the PDP Governors could compare. Use your products from counsellors,LG Chairmen,State Assembly Men,Federal house of Reps,Senates and State Governors,Commissioners etc who are acting as you said we ought to be acting as leaders? Practise what you Preach oh Presidency is not the Source of Positive Change in Nigeria.
Is that Bola Tinubu has lost his morals why aspiring for Presidency? He never speaks positive for Nigeria rather his prime target is eliminating PDP. I can see you can’t offer us anything even when you are worst than some PDP Governors past and present. We are from Nigeria and not from PDP ever since you started your deceitful quest your dreams are never in-line with what the Nation wants so go home and take a nap.
So many leaders have lost it including Tinubu its a shame that no true opposition in our Nation at all. We never introduce reasonable and life changing ideas for the masses except that which profits us personally and when it ceases to come we demand audience from the oppressed masses that we never consider to fight for us and all that. Any who claims to be different should start by living up to do according to the demands of the masses.
