Globacom, sponsor of the annual African Player of the Year award gala, and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) say all plans aimed at organising a befitting 2013 Glo-CAF Awards slated for January 9, 2014 in Lagos have been set in motion.
According to the organisers, the presentation ceremony billed for the Eko Hotel Convention centre will be an unprecedented spectacle and magical in scope and scale as detailed attention has been paid every process involved in ensuring the emergence of a credible winner.
Following a press briefing in Lagos, where Globacom’s National Sales Coordinator, Segun Adeyemo and Caf Director of Media Division, Mr. Junior Binyam, spoke, the duo gave the assurance that the event is going to be one of its kinds.
Binyam stated that coaches and captains of national football teams will vote for the best African player and the list will be trimmed from 25 to the top ten, to five and the final three in subsequent weeks. He added that one of the best three will be unveiled as winner of the coveted prize at the award night.
“The countdown to the Award night has started,” he said.
