A screaming mafia boss was fed alive to pigs by rival gangsters as part of a bloody 60-year feud in Italy.

Francesco Raccosta was beaten with iron bars and thrown in a sty, where the animals devoured him as he begged for help.

A recording made in a huge undercover police operation, reveals crime boss Simone Pepe, 24, was behind the attack.

He can be heard bragging on the phone: “It was so satisfying hearing him scream. Mamma mia he could scream.

“I didn’t see a f****** thing left. People say sometimes they leave something. In the end there was nothing left. Those pigs could certainly eat.”

The men were part of warring clans in the brutal ’Ndrangheta mafia of Calabria, southern Italy.

Pepe admitted the killing – and three other murders – and said it was revenge for the death of mob Godfather Domenico Bonarrigo.

Raccosta disappeared in 2012 with fellow mobster Carmine Putrino, who officers believe was also fed to the pigs.

The details have just emerged after a police swoop that saw 20 people held and millions of euros seized in Calabria and Rome.

A police spokesman said: “This feud has been going on since the 1950s and has claimed numerous lives. Pepe was particularly brutal.

“By feeding his victim to pigs he thought he would earn the respect of rivals as well as his own clan.”
