Roma became the first team to win the opening 10 matches of the Italian League season when they beat Chievo 1-0 on Thursday.
Striker Marco Borriello scored his first goal of the season to help the Serie A leaders edge bottom-placed Chievo at home.
The Naples club now leads city rivals Napoli by five points with 24 goals and have conceded just once.
They have now surpassed Juventus’ record of nine opening wins achieved during the 2005-2006 season, when the Turin giants were stripped of their title and any other related honours for match-fixing.
Captain Francesco Totti and winger Gervinho both missed Thursday’s home win through injury and defender Douglas Maicon was suspended. Rudi Garcia’s side struggled to break down Chievo’s defence before the break.
The hosts eventually broke the deadlock in the second-half when Miralem Pjanic’s pass found Alessandro Florenzi deep on the left and the forward’s inviting cross was headed home by Boriello from six yards.
Luca Rigoni went close for the visitors late on before Adem Ljajic’s free-kick was tipped away by goalkeeper Christain Puggioni to prevent a second.
