Job description
The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Static Equipment) will lead and manage a team of professional Design Engineers. The technical requirement for this position is to be the ‘company technical expert’ in the discipline, with support from other key engineers within the Mechanical Engineering department, which includes Fluid power systems, vessel engineering, heat transfer, materials technology and building services.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Work as static equipment engineer with responsibility for handling all static equipment in a project.
Prepare equipment data sheet, specifications, review vendor designs/detail engineering of the equipment, interface control and timely management of all technical data. To check/prepare BOM (Bill of Material) as per drawings and calculations.
Develop designs from project specifications and check/prepare TDC (Technical Delivery Condition) and material specifications in accordance with project specifications and relevant code. Assesses and discusses customer needs, works out proper approaches to solving the problem.
Allocate, prioritise and check work of a team of Design Engineers and ensure harmonious interdisciplinary relationship at all levels, including vendors and clients.
Coordinate man-hour utilisation, collate data and library of lessons learnt and estimating man-hour and providing proposal support. Project work includes resource allocation, lead engineering support of the schedule, determining workflow, work-hour spread and forward loading and progress measurement
Prepare and check material data sheets and material take off reports.
Prepare, check and evaluate design and material specifications, SDRL, RFQ’s and TBE Criteria for Quotation and tender.
Review and approve key vendor prints, documents and drawings
Review detail shop drawings, plate cutting layout and nesting program according to the construction drawings.
Document, record and report on meetings, progress of jobs and construction completions from design & validation reports from Project Engineers.
Mentor young engineers, provide training and guide management in their development effort.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ability and exposure to support site pre-commissioning activities and cross discipline knowledge.
Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to potential Clients.
Good report writing skills and ability to debate technical issues and provide solutions.
