Aminu TambuwalSpeaker Aminu Tambuwal says the spate of internal conflicts in various parts of the country is stretching the professional capabilities of security agencies.

Tambuwal said this when he received a delegation from the Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee of Agatu Local Government Council of Benue State at the National Assembly.

The speaker stressed the need for Nigerians to learn to live in peace with one another.

According to him, meaningful development can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.

He said that the issue of clashes between herdsmen and farmers was of serious concern to all Nigerians.

The speaker assured that the House of Representatives would continue to collaborate with other arms of government to do all that was necessary to tackle all cases of security breaches in the country.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mr Emmanuel Eihoda, expressed concern over the increasing number of attacks on villages by herdsmen in some parts of the country.

Eihoda said that at the last count, more than 300 persons had been killed while farmlands had been destroyed with countless number of persons rendered homeless.

He commended Tambuwal and the House for passing a motion calling on security agencies to end the attacks on Agatu villages.

Eihoda, however, appealed to the House to follow up on the motion to ensure its full compliance. (NAN)
