Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Chief (Mrs) Bianca Ojukwu has thanked the people of Anambra State for keeping alive the desire of her late husband, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu that the state remained an All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA-controlled state.
Bianca also congratulated the Governor-elect of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano on his victory in the last governorship election.
The ex-beauty queen and widow of the late Biafran warlord made these known in a statement issued yesterday in Madrid, the capital of Spain.
“I appreciate, in no small measure, how our people came out enmasse to honour the spiritual leader of APGA, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu by voting overwhelmingly for the party,” she said.
Bianca noted with delight that the action of Anambra people to massively vote for APGA had ensured that “the ideals espoused by the Ezeigbo Gburugburu will live on.
The ambassador also pointed out that the people of the state had made history, saying for the first time in history, one party – APGA, had won elections in the state for three consecutive times thus maintaining a rancor-free transition.
Bianca, therefore, hailed President Goodluck Jonathan for creating the enabling environment that made the Anambra election to be conducted in a transparent and peaceful manner.
She also extended her thanks to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for being transparent at the election and ensuring that the wish of the people was respected.
Bianca, therefore, urged Anambrarians, including those who lost in the election to close ranks and join the governor-elect to consolidate on the gains made by Governor Peter Obi.
She also called on all to come out to help make the state the envy of other states in the country.
