Former governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Professor Kunle Lawal has died after being down with an undisclosed illness for a long period.
It was learnt that the university don, who was also a former Commissioner for Education as well as Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Lagos State, died early on Wednesday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, Lagos.
According to reports, Professor Lawal, a Professor of History, was sick for a long period, and was flown abroad at a time.
He was reported to have been healed before the illness relapsed about a week ago, when he was taken to LASUTH where he gave up the ghost early Wednesday morning.
He was buried yesterday at his residence in Ojo in accordance with Islamic rites.
He was 54.
