Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara on Tuesday said that his administration would create 5,000 additional jobs in the first quarter of 2014.

He said that this was an indication of what the 2014 budget had in stock for the people of the state.

Ahmed said that his administration would also earmark N50 million on a quarterly basis to assist individuals and promote the development of small-scale entrepreneurship in the state.

He said that a N100-million loan scheme had also been put in place for artisans in the state.

The governor said that the International Vocational Centre in Ajasse-Ipo would enroll its first batch of students in the second quarter of 2014.

He said that the three technical colleges in Ilorin, Erin-Ile and Patigi would be rehabilitated to promote technical education in the state.

Besides, Ahmed said that the defection of five governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was not a fight against President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said that the governors found the APC as a platform that would enable them to promote the interests of their people and other Nigerians.

Ahmed, however, said the affected governors would collaborate with the presidency on matters that could advance the country’s development. [NAN]
