Eleven senators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), bringing the number of senators in the opposition party to 44.
Fourteen senators have earlier been speculated to be leaving the PDP for APC.
Among the senators that defected are Senator Bukola Saraki-Kwara Central, Senator Umaru Dahiru-Sokoto South
, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe -Rivers South-East, and Senator Wilson Asinobi Ake-Rivers West.
Others are Sen. Bindawa Muhammed Jibrilla-Adamawa North, Sen. Mohammed Danjuma Goje-Gombe central, Sen. Aisha Jummai Alhassan-Taraba North, Sen. Mohammed Ali Ndume-Borno South, Senator Mohammed Shaba Lafiaji-Kwara North, Sen. Abdulahi Adamu-Nasarawa West, and Senator Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir-Sokoto East.
Their decision was communicated in a letter addressed to the Senate President, David Mark.
The defection regardless, the PDP maintains its majority in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
