Niger State Governor and Chairman of Northern States Governors Forum, NSGF, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu on Monday in a bid to set the records straight over a comment he made last week that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would win the Presidential and Niger State governorship elections come 2015, said that his loyalty is to the party and not to any individual.
The governor, who has often maintained that President Goodluck Jonathan signed a pact with some PDP governors not to seek re-election in 2015, made the clarification yesterday when different delegations paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Minna.
According to him, “I am not supporting any particular candidate for any position as of now because nobody knows who will reach 2015”.
Gov. Aliyu said he deemed the clarification necessary in view of the fact that his statement had been misinterpreted by generality of Nigerians.
He stressed, “It is not a support for any individual, I am a party member, loyal one for that matter and I must sell my party and I will do it in such a way that Nigerians will buy it. I don’t know whether I will reach 2015, let alone supporting a particular candidate”.
