Mu’azu’s Sterling Leadership Qualities Winning Back Old, New Members – PDP

Adamu Mu'azuThe sterling leadership qualities of the new National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Adamu Mu’azu is responsible for the return of some members of the ruling party from the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.

The party while basking in the euphoria of the return of some of its members as well as the gaining of new ones, said the development was an expression of the confidence Nigerians had in the PDP, as the only sure vehicle for the sustenance of democracy.

Five members of the House of Representatives, who had earlier defected to the APC, recently retraced their steps to PDP even as former governors Attahiru Bafarawa and Ibrahim Shekarau of Sokoto and Kano States respectively, who were both chieftains of the opposition, defected to the ruling party.

A statement by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, on Tuesday said the party’s in-built capacity for self-recovery and its resilience was what differentiated it from other political parties in Nigeria.

“The opposition, who neglected this and who, out of shock, has been explaining this new development in the negative is clearly reacting to save a thoroughly bruised ego and instinct, where a premature celebration of imaginary victory of the APC has been cut short. Nigerians will recall that while being sworn-in, Alhaji Mu’azu pledged his determined effort and total commitment to breaking all barriers to peace and cohesion so as to halt the dwindling fortunes of the PDP. He has pursued this with vigor, sincerity and open heart and the result is manifest”, the statement said.

The PDP also rubbished the just concluded nationwide membership registration of the APC, saying the exercise was a massive flop. The PDP alleged that the registration was way below the APC’s claims and corresponding media hype. It said that this was an indication of what to come for the opposition party at the 2015 general elections.

“The fact is that Nigerians realised early enough that the APC is a rudderless ship captained by political rabble-rousers, in a mal-voyage for the Bermuda. They have realised that the APC is an inoperable coalition of strange bed fellows whose buoyant pedigree in tribalism and bigotry will navigate the unity and the oneness of our people to the rocks”, the statement said.

The ruling party also stated that the APC had displayed political immaturity in the handling of its “fantasised” majority in the National Assembly and presumed control of Sokoto, Kano, Nasarawa, Kwara and Imo States. The PDP claimed that the people of those states have now rejected the APC.

The PDP asked all Nigerians “who were either deceived or forced into the APC”, to ignore the blackmail by the opposition party, and feel free to exercise their fundamental rights and liberate themselves. It said that its own membership strength would continue to soar, adding that its doors were still open to those willing to join its fold.

  1. APC is not but Association of Past Criminals. No right thinking Nigerian will take them serious, but of like minds beclouded of greed and corrupt tendencies. Let Nigerians find out how the party printed her just concluded membership registration papers and who and who were involved.
