NWBBF Lines Up a National Wheelchair Basketball League

The Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation (NWBBF) is working towards establishing a league for the sport before the end of the year.

NWBBF president Bukola Olopade says the present administration of the para-sport is committed to improving the appeal of wheelchair basketball in the country.

“I agree with the players and experts. The future of the sport is the establishment of a league and it shows that people are seeing our efforts as administrators of the game,” said Olopade.

“But it has to be a systematic progression and we are putting things in place hopefully before June, you will see something new from us that we have to show the world.”

The NWBBF president further stressed that the federation have succeeded in improving Nigeria’s status as a wheelchair basketball playing nation.

“Internationally, we are looking good. So many new players have been discovered through this competition (Victor Ochei International Championship) and this means that by the time we attend any major international event, we wont fall prey to South Africa or Algeria again as had been the case in the past, the NWBBF president concluded,” he added.
