Osun PDP, APC Bickers Over INEC’s Directive On Removal Of Campaign Posters

apc-vc-pdpThe Peoples Democratic Party in Osun has directed its supporters to immediately remove campaign posters from the streets in compliance with the governorship election time table released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The Director of Media Strategy and Publicity of the party, Mr Diran Odeyemi, gave the directive in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Osogbo, the state capital.

NAN recalls that Prof. Attahiru Jega, the Chairman of INEC had on Thursday at a stakeholders forum in Osogbo said campaign before the stipulated date was illegal.

INEC had also fixed May 11 for the commencement of gubernatorial campaign by all political parties in the state.

Odeyemi alleged that most of the campaign posters and bill boards belonged to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The few which carried the name of our party was the handiwork of our supporters and we have now directed them to start removing them”, he said.

But Mr Kunle Oyatomi, APC Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy in Osun said, “The PDP should go ahead and remove its campaign posters as whoever wants to come to equity must come with clean hands”. (NAN)
